Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice

Free Jewish trivia game now for adults

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Chabad of North Orlando has continued to innovate new ways to engage, educate and connect with the community. There was the Drive-In Lag B'Omer concert, Zoom classes and guest speakers, Holidays in a box for those celebrating at home, Sukkos Drive Through Experience to mention a few.

The Jewish trivia game JText for teens has been very popular over the last two years in the Orlando Jewish community with over 100 local teens signed up. With no end in sight to the pandemic, Chabad of North Orlando is now bringing this Jewish Trivia Texting game to the entire community free of charge.

"It is new, it's fun, it's quick, it will stimulate your mind, and the best part is you won't have to leave your home," said Chanshy Majesky of Chabad.

Here's how it works: every Sunday and Wednesday at 7 p.m, a Jewish trivia question is sent out via text message. Following the question, the text includes four multiple-choice answers. Participants receiving the text can respond "1," "2," "3," or "4". Once they submit an answer, they will immediately receive a response telling them if they are correct or not. The 18th person to answer correctly wins.

JText has featured a range of questions from "Which country had the earliest settlement of Jews?" to "Who were the first set of twins in the Torah?" to "How long does it take to drive the length of Israel?"

"Chabad has always been on the cutting edge of technology and using it to make Torah and Judaism more accessible to all," said Rabbi Yanky Majesky of Chabad North Orlando. "JText for adults is a perfect way to keep everyone engaged in their Yideshkeit even if they are unable to come to in-person services and classes."

Signing up for JText is simple, Text "JEWISHTRIVIA" to  407-612-2552, you can unsubscribe at any time.  (Teens can still sign up for the JText for teens by texting "JoinJText" to 407-612-2552).

For questions or if you'd like to help sponsor this program please call Chabad 407-636-5994 or email Rabbi@JewishNorthOrlando.com.
