JFS Orlando's 10 favorite things in 2020

Even though three quarters of 2020 was under quarantine, JFS Orlando had many things to be thankful for. These are the agency’s 10 favorite things:

The Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry provided enough food for more than 175,000 meals to about 9,000 individuals

JFS Orlando’s mental health counselors transitioned all appointments to telehealth (overnight with very few hiccups) to stay safe and still meet with clients.

The Family Stabilization program helped more than 140 families fight homelessness and become more self-sufficient for the long term.

JFS Orlando introduced JFS Orlando CARES, a new program dedicated to provide $500,000 in emergency rental assistance to those severely impacted by COVID-19.

The RIDE — Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly — program provided close to 600 rides for seniors and disabled adults.

JFS Orlando held its first High Holiday HOPE Drive and surpassed its goal with more than $11,000 raised to support our community services.

Our community rabbi served more than 660 individuals through chaplaincy services, including hospital visits and burial services.

JFS Orlando launched its newly designed website for more accessibility and a better user experience including multiple languages and new online Pantry and Counseling appointment request forms.

The Counseling, Growth and Development program provided more than 4,800 sessions, serving more than 400 individuals.

When the world was shutting down around us, JFS Orlando remained virtually open. Their essential programs continued to provide relief to Central Florida individuals and families who needed it this year more than ever before.
