Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
As part of their popular monthly zoom series of guest lectures "Physically apart - Emotionally together," Chabad will be hosting Rabbi Noach and Alti Majesky, Chabad Shluchim in Ghana, Africa.
The zoom meeting will take place on Feb. 11, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. and participants will learn what Jewish life is like in Ghana and how this dedicated couple managed to build a community in this third world country.
"I'm excited to be speaking with the Orlando Jewish community," said Rabbi Noach Majesky who is also the younger brother of Rabbi Yanky Majesky of Chabad North Orlando. "For many years, before I moved to Africa, I would come help my brother and serve as the Chazan (cantor) during the High Holidays and I look forward to seeing so many of my old friends at least virtually."
Chabad of Central Africa has been sending Yeshiva students for the past 20+ years to Ghana for the holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Pesach, but in the last few years the many locals have requested a full-time family of Shluchim.
The Majeskys left the comforts of New York City and moved to Ghana in the summer of 2015. There are now 11 Chabad Houses in Central Africa in the countries of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria ,Angola, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia with more on the way!
"I am extremely proud of the work my brother and sister-in-law do so selflessly for the Jewish people and we are honored to be hosting them," said Rabbi Yanky Majesky.
The entire community is invited to join for this fascinating lecture. Tickets can be purchased for $10 Zoom ID and password will be provided upon registration.
