Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
COS Men's Club is starting an online Bridge group and all are welcome. No age limit, no experience needed and no other forms of discrimination, only a desire to have a fun time learning and playing Bridge. All that is required is Internet access and a laptop/computer to access the game, which is played while on a Zoom call, so participants can kibbitz (explain, question or teach) while playing. The Zoom can be on a cell phone or just leave the zoom app open in background on the same device you play on. The game is played using BridgeBase.com and you just need to create a Bridge Base user ID. There is no cost to play or to obtain a user ID. Go to https://www.bridgebase.com and register for your free BBO (bridge base online) ID and password. Once you create an account, send Jim Tinkoff (jtinkoff@cfl.rr.com) or Andy Rosen (andy@pineloch.com) an email with your Bridge Base ID, your email address, telephone number and if you already know how to play.
Bridge requires four people to play and no real experience is required - teachers are available. People are broken up into tables of four and then moved into a separate Zoom room to keep the ambient noise down while groups play.
If you and your spouse (or bridge partner) are playing, let them know if you want to play as partners. Please respond before 5 p.m. on Sundays for the next Tuesday's game. Tables are then arranged and a host is selected for each table. Tinkoff will send out the table listing on Monday with a list of members and players at each table. Rosen will send out a Zoom request to be used while playing. Once the host has seated all the players at a table, that table will be moved to a private zoom room.
Currently the group plays Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Emails will be sent out a day or two before with the table/partner assignments and then just join in the fun that Tuesday at 7pm. For more detailed instructions, contact Tinkoff or Rosen via email.
