Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry resumes Aldi and Fresh Market food pick-ups

JFS Orlando's Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry is excited to share that food pick-ups from Aldi at Aloma Square Shopping Center and The Fresh Market on N Mills Ave have resumed as of late-June 2021.

For the majority of last year, food donation pick-ups from all grocery partners were suspended due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry was able to stay stocked by purchasing food from Second Harvest Food Bank. Now, by resuming food pick-ups from grocery partners like Aldi and Fresh Market, the Pantry will have a wider variety of food.

"We usually receive frozen meat, deli items, baked goods, and fresh produce from Aldi and Fresh Market," explained Audrey Cohen, JFS Orlando program coordinator. "Our clients really love the freshness and variety of food that comes from these stores. Some items are even quite expensive, and they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them. After an entire year-long break because of COVID, it's important that these community partnerships continue to remain strong."

Food pick-ups from grocery partners, including Aldi and Fresh Market, is provided through Second Harvest Food Bank's Grocery Alliance Program.
