Obituary - MARY LOU GOSS

Mary Lou Goss, 88, of Maitland passed away Oct. 20, 2021. Mrs. Goss was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 11, 1933, to the late Helen and Richard Werner. Mrs. Goss showed a talent for music and at a young age became known regionally for her singing voice. By her early teens, she was appearing on local radio shows and singing at many different venues. She was admitted to the Julliard School of Music, but was prevented from attending by economic considerations. She met Gerald Goss while he was finishing his medical training at Lancaster General Hospital and they were soon married. The couple moved to Central Florida where the new Dr. and Mrs. Goss would spend the rest of their lives. They were one of the first families to join the Congregation of Liberal Judaism and remained members for over 50 years.

Mrs. Goss served multiple terms as Sisterhood president, was an occasional board member and shared her vocal talents as featured soloist for many services through the years. She was a fierce advocate for things she believed in and would not hesitate to raise her voice if she thought an injustice was being done.

Mrs. Goss is survived by her five children — Richard, Michael, Samuel, Susan and Terrence; as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a talented and passionate person who gave freely to her community and was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family without reserve.

Service and interment were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery - Woodlawn Memorial Park, 9200 Morton Jones Road, Gotha.
