SOJC Family offers new members free religious school tuition for grades K-2

It’s never been a better time to join the Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation. The Hardoon family, long-time members of SOJC, are offering free religious school tuition for kindergarten to second grade for any new members to SOJC.

This generous offer aligns with SOJC’s commitment to Jewish children’s education. The SOJC Religious School has been serving this Conservative Jewish community for over 20 years. Students not only learn to read Hebrew but also grow up chanting Torah and Haftarah. The religious school curriculum focuses on learning through doing, and so SOJC students are actively encouraged to put what they learn into action. This goes beyond the classroom; at Friday night services, SOJC Religious School students are regularly welcomed up onto the bimah to lead the congregation in the prayers they’ve learned. By the time they reach b’nei mitzvah age, SOJC kids are eager participants and confident leaders in their synagogue.

SOJC is also celebrating the appointment of a new religious school educational director, Jodi Abrache.

“I feel excited and grateful for the opportunity and inspired to make a difference,” Abrache said regarding her new role. “A Jewish education is so important for young children to grow and connect to their Jewish identity, which is essential in carrying on Jewish traditions and values.”

Members of SOJC have ample opportunities throughout the year to carry on those very traditions and values. From High Holy Day services, to monthly “Tot Shabbat” programs for families with young children, to social activities with the Sisterhood, Men’s Club, and USY programs, SOJC remains the heart of an active, connected Conservative Jewish community.

Families interested in joining SOJC can find more information at www.sojc.org. Inquiries may also be directed via email to office@sojc.org or by phone at 407-239-5444
