The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center will present two multi-media genocide exhibits “Finding Kalman” and “Never Again—Again.” This will be the world premiere of “Never Again—Again.” The exhibits will open with a reception from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, March 23rd. The public is invited to meet with the exhibit creators — filmmaker Laurie Weisman and artist Roz Jacobs.
“Finding Kalman” is a multi-media exhibit featuring art and film to tell a powerful story of a family’s love and loss during the Holocaust and beyond. In the exhibit, Holocaust survivor Anna Jacobs, tells her own story of survival and of the last time she saw Kalman, her little brother, in Poland. Her daughter, acclaimed New York artist Roz Jacobs, has captured the essence of her uncle Kalman through a series of paintings, while at the same time telling the story of her childhood fantasy to find Kalman and reunite him with her mother. The exhibit has previously been shown at the Anne Frank Center, USA; Holocaust Museum Houston; the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington, Michigan, Florida Holocaust Museum and Holocaust Resource Center in Manhasset, N.Y. “Never Again—Again” was created as a complement to “Finding Kalman.” It includes paintings and stories of six survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Along with the paintings, a video draws viewers close the canvases as Rwandan survivors share their stories.
