Sheila M. Cooper, age 72, of Oviedo, FL (formerly of Randallstown, MD) passed away on Oct. 9 in Altamonte Springs. Mrs. Cooper was born in Baltimore, MD, on Nov. 27, 1950, to the late Karl and Adele “Gert” Friedman. She moved to the Oviedo area in 1990 with her husband of 44 years, Thomas Cooper, of blessed memory.
She is survived by her loving children: David (Daun) Cooper and Nicole (Ben) Knapp, both of Oviedo, FL, sisters; Joyce Bell of Maryland and Janice (Jeffrey) Frieman of Tampa, Florida; brother, Alan Jay (Dan) Friedman of West Virginia; and her beloved grandchildren, Sarah Cooper, Samuel Cooper, Melanie Knapp and Nolan Knapp; and many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in law.
She was a member of Temple Shir Shalom and The Oviedo Winter Springs Optimist Club and found love and compassion with her Widows World group after Tom passed in 2015.
She was an advocate for those with special needs, supporter of Boys Town of Central Florida, and volunteered at Seminole County Public Schools to mentor at risk youth.
Sheila was an entrepreneur, selling off her spice business to J.O. Spice Company before moving to Oviedo in 1991. She worked as a realtor in Central Florida until her medical issues forced her to stop in the early 2000s.
