Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
Dear Editor:
I am angry, disgusted, and most of all not surprised. The silence is deafening. The comparisons are gruesome, and the justification is just, well, I don’t have the words.
If you believe that speaking about what is happening in Israel is “too political” and “you don’t share about politics” you are part of the problem.
If you identify with groups whether on the left or right that say “let’s look at the context” you are part of the problem. There is no context in this scenario.
If you are staying silent when you speak out about everything else, I will believe you have the same values as Hamas and want all Jews dead.
Do you believe that my two-year-old deserves to hold the trauma she is holding, to wake up in a panic attack at 5 a.m. inconsolable, to ask if the sound she hears is a bus or a siren telling us to run to shelter. Do you truly believe that I deserve this?!
My people, the Jewish People, family 40 miles away are being slaughtered, raped, kidnapped, (all publicly) and the entire country is being bombed. Our soldiers are dying fighting for this country left and right – a lot of them just kids themselves, and also a lot who volunteer from around the world. How is this justifiable? How does this not cause for world outrage?
If you fall into any of the above categories, please remove yourself from my life. I truly don’t care if we were lifelong friends or even family, remove yourself.
And if those who continue to check in, even if we haven’t spoken since high school — Thank you. It means the world.
