Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice

From altar boy to Chabad rabbi

Originally hailing from south central Pennsylvania, Rabbi Matisyahu Devlin was raised as a devout Catholic. The son of a Catholic father and Jewish mother. He attended Catholic school and mass on Sundays with his 10 brothers and sisters. Judaism at home was scant, so their identity rested firmly on their Catholic heritage and upbringing. Devlin himself was very active in his parish as an altar boy, choir member, and lector.

At the tender age of 18, after getting into trouble at school and with the law, Devlin found himself in New York City attempting a fresh start. A fateful midnight meeting with a stranger in a Manhattan coffee shop would change his life forever.

Today, Rabbi Matisyahu Devlin, lives with his wife and four beautiful children in Miami, and he serves as a Chabad educator in Lanaar Academy.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Rabbi Devlin will present his riveting life story at 7:30 p.m. in Nate's Shul in Longwood. All are welcome to this event. You don't want to miss it.

Tickets are $20 with an Early Bird discount of $15 if you register by June 18.
