SCREC stands with Israel

A Proclamation expressing support for the State of Israel and condemning the Hamas terror attack was presented to the Seminole County Republican Executive Committee by Sandi Solomon on May 16. SCREC Chairman Bruce Cherry and the general body voted enthusiastically in favor of the proclamation supporting the State of Israel, recognizing the right of Israel to defend itself and to exist as a sovereign nation.

The Proclamation states:

WHEREAS, beginning on Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacked the State of Israel, raping, torturing, and murdering over 1200 innocent persons, including Israelis, Americans, other nationals, babies, children, and the elderly, while indiscriminately launching over 5,000 rockets at private homes, schools, hospitals, and taking 253 persons hostage, and

WHEREAS, the United States also suffered losses senselessly as more than 30 Americans were brutally murdered, and at least 20 more are missing or have been taken hostage, and

WHEREAS, Hamas and the Iranian Islamic regime have called for the deaths of Israelis, Americans, Jews, and Christians around the world, and

WHEREAS, the Iranian theocracy provides financial and logistical support to terrorist groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah, and has praised these atrocities against innocent civilians, and

WHEREAS, the Seminole County Republican Executive Committee recognizes the right and obligation of the State of Israel to defend itself and to exist as a sovereign and independent nation, with the full rights and privileges afforded to all nations under international law, and

WHEREAS, SCREC prays for the people of the State of Israel and all those affected by this unjustified and heinous attack, NOW THEREFORE,

We, Bruce Cherry, Chairman of The Seminole County Republican Executive Committee, as the elected leader of SCREC, do hereby:

(1) Condemn the unprovoked and barbaric attacks by Hamas against Israel and America.

(2) Unequivocally support the right of the State of Israel to exist as a sovereign nation.

(3) Support the right of the State of Israel to defend and protect itself from violence and terrorism.

(4) Demand the end to any financial support to the Iranian regime, Hamas, Hezbollah, or any other entity that publicly supports these attacks.
