St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society to tour library

The St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society will tour the Isser and Rae Price Library of Judaica at the University of Florida on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024 under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Jefferson, the unofficial “The Jewish Librarian of Florida.” The Society and guests will meet in the parking lot of the Main Branch of the St. Johns County Library, 1960 North Ponce De Leon Boulevard (Route U.S. 1), St. Augustine, FL 32084 at 10 am. for the drive to Gainesville and a noontime lunch at CAVA, 1404 W University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32603 (Call 352-565-5558 for best directions).

From lunch, the group will proceed to meet Dr. Jefferson at the Price Library, 2nd Avenue SW and Union Road at 2 pm. for an hour-long tour followed by an opportunity to examine books and special materials from the Library’s 120,000 volume collection. Ultimately, members of the Society and their guests hope to become familiar with the resources available to better understand the Jewish History of St. Augustine.

All are welcome to meet the members of the Society at the St. Johns County Library at 10 am Sunday, August 11th, or meet the group at CAVA in Gainesville at noon or meet directly at the Library at 2 pm.
