It truly was 'the week that was'

(JNS) — “The week that was” started with an assassin’s bullet missing former President Donald Trump. As Trump said: “It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.” In his speech at the Republican National Convention, he asserted: “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.” 

Trump has not only internalized the profound and unmistakable providential intervention that saved him but has been brave and courageous enough to bring God back into the world. 

Unlike most politicians, who rarely if ever speak about God, Trump made it crystal clear that God is involved in every action that takes place. 

Trump was so touched by his brush with death that he decided to change his convention speech to highlight unity, saying, “I want to try to unite our country.”

Although his poor debate performance on June 27 was the main reason President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Trump’s extraordinary week made Biden’s decision that much easier. 

Trump’s choice of Sen. J.D. Vance as a running mate added youth and vitality to the mix, making for an overpowering dynamic duo that left Biden little choice.

With Biden out of contention, Trump’s words will carry much more meaning and significance. Trump means business when he says, “To the entire world, I tell you this, we want our hostages back—and they better be back before I assume office, or you will be paying a very big price.”

With Biden bailing out, Trump essentially becomes the leader of the free world even though he has not yet been elected. Movement on the Israel front, the Iran front and the Ukraine front will all start today. 

The realignment has begun. All parties will now factor a coming Trump administration into every decision they make. Last week changed the world substantially and manifestly. It truly was the “week that was.”
