Aug. 17-18, Florida Kids & Family Expo — Join the Holocaust Center from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the 9th Annual Florida Kids & Family Expo on Aug. 17 & 18 at the Orange County Convention Center, 9800 International Dr., Orlando. The Holocaust Center will be part of the largest kids and family expo in the United States. The Center will present the all-new VR tour of Anne Frank’s annex and Holocaust Center educators will be on hand to chat with.
Sept. 14, Holocaust Center Benefit Concert — Opera Orlando will present the premiere of “Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin,” 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. in Steinmetz Hall at Dr. Phillips Center, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando. This is a concert-drama that combines the music of Verdi’s Requiem with video testimony from survivors of the original Terezin chorus and footage from the 1944 Nazi propaganda film about Theresienstadt.
Sept. 19, Exhibit opening: The Holocaust by Bullets — 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Holocaust Center. Based on research by the French organization Yahad-In Unum, this exhibit illuminates the brutal execution of over 2 million Jews and Roma who were shot and buried in unmarked graves across Eastern Europe. This exhibit is for mature audiences only.
