Alicia Peisich, born on April 16, 1938, in Melilla, Spain, passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2024 in her daughter's arms and surrounded by love, following a long battle with congestive heart failure and other health challenges.
Alicia was the beloved daughter of a widowed mother named Bella and the cherished only sister among three brothers. The untimely loss of her father when Alicia was a little child deepened the bond she shared with her mother and instilled in her the value of helping others, giving selflessly and a strong work ethic that remained with her well into her senior years.
As a young adult, Alicia devoted herself to caring for her mother during her painful battle with breast cancer, demonstrating unwavering love and support until her mother's passing.
In 1968, Alicia and her siblings immigrated to Canada, guided by her oldest brother, who studied nuclear medicine and helped pave the way for their new life. Four years later, she married the love of her life, Bercu Peisich, with whom she shared 52 beautiful years until his recent passing just two months ago. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and resilience. The love that Alicia and Bercu shared was palpable, immeasurable and intertwined in a way that could only be ordained by destiny.
Alicia was a devoted mother to her children, Joseph and Betty Bella, whom she adored. The tragedy of experiencing two miscarriages and the challenges faced with her firstborn's health deepened her desire to protect and nurture her children even more fiercely. Her nurturing spirit extended to her family, including her brother-in-law Filip; son-in-law, Michael; and her four grandchildren - Alissa, Sarah, Nathan, and Isabella. She filled their lives with love, joy, and unforgettable memories that they will cherish forever.
She was also incredibly hard working, an excellent cook and seamstress, known for preparing delicious meals, deserts and crafting beautiful dresses that brought joy to her family. Throughout her life, Alicia faced hardships and health struggles with remarkable strength and tenacity.
In her final months, her daughter Betty Bella rallied to provide necessary medical and daily support, ultimately moving Alicia into her home after the passing of Alicia's husband. Alicia's beautiful smile and infectious laugh left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her extreme warmth, beauty that shined from within, a willingness to always do for others, and an unwavering spirit.
Alicia is survived by her son, Joseph; daughter, Betty Bella; son-in-law, Michae; younger brother, Elias; and her four beloved grandchildren - Alissa, Sarah, Nathan and Isabella. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
