Obituary - JEANNE MENDELSON

Submitted by the family

Jeanne Mendelson was a terrific wife, mother, and grandmother. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on Jan. 23, 1934, she passed away on Oct. 24, 2024. She moved to Florida with her family in 1974. She was artistically gifted and attended art school.

When Jeanne started her working life she worked at a department store in Cleveland. That’s where she met her future husband, Ronnie Mendelson, who was there to pick up his sister. After they started dating, they were married and had two children: A son named Morrie and a daughter Julie. After working in retail, she started a career in the U.S. Bankruptcy court system and continued in Florida. After a few years in the court system, she returned to working in retail and eventually worked for the Walt Disney Company where she worked for almost a third of her life.

Jeanne deeply loved and cared for her family. She always tried to give her children a happy and carefree childhood. She was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband, Ronnie. They were married for almost 53 years. Halloween was Jeanne’s favorite holiday and loved to decorate for it. She also loved animals and had many dogs, cats, and horses in her lifetime. She was always a generous contributor to several animal charities. Jeanne loved movies and enjoyed watching them with her husband and children. She had a happy healthy life for almost 91 years, but her family wishes it was longer.

She is survived by her son, Morrie Mendelson; her daughter, Julie (Jacques) Appleton; and her granddaughter, Michaela Appleton.

Jeanne was loved deeply by her family and will be missed every day.

Graveside Services for Jeanne were held at Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL) with Rabbi Steven Cardonick officiating.

Service entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida 407-599-1180.
