Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice
On Nov. 14, Jewish Pavilion Senior Services brought the holiday spirit to over 50 attendees from the Maitland Chamber of Commerce at New Hope for Kids in Maitland. The Pre-Hanukkah Breakfast, prepared by dedicated Jewish Pavilion staff and volunteers, offered a unique and engaging celebration, complete with festive décor and a menu of delicious homemade holiday foods.
The highlight of the morning was an interactive presentation by Jewish Pavilion's CEO, Nancy Ludin, who captivated the audience with the story of Hanukkah. Using creative props and costumes, Ludin brought the tale to life, illustrating the holiday's themes of perseverance, faith, and the triumph of light over darkness. Her storytelling introduced many in the audience to Hanukkah traditions for the first time, fostering a deeper appreciation for Jewish culture.
The menu featured traditional Hanukkah treats, such as crispy latkes, home-made applesauce, challah French toast, sweet sufganiyot, and other holiday favorites, providing guests with an authentic taste of the holiday. Beyond the food and festivities, the breakfast offered an invaluable opportunity for community building and cultural exchange, bringing people together from diverse backgrounds to share in the holiday's joy.
This special event allowed Jewish Pavilion Senior Services to showcase its commitment to community engagement, making the morning memorable for all who attended.
