Central Florida's Independent Jewish Voice

Is the world changing?

What is going on and what are we seeing before our eyes? Is it real or is it just entertainment?

As an American Conservative Jew, I grew up celebrating Jewish holidays in our dining room with my cousins. We’d get through the meal quickly and run off to the basement where we would watch movies.

Every Rosh Hashanah we would watch “Grease” on the VCR and sing along with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. We knew all the songs all the dance moves. This was our joy. This was how we spent our time.

Recently, while speaking with an American friend of mine about the War in Israel, she remarked simply,

“Americans don’t care about the war. They don’t care about Israel, They don’t really care about anything. They just want to be entertained.”

It was painful to hear. Is it true?

The Incoming Trump Administration — Will we see change in Israel?

The day after the elections, the whole of Israel was elated and hopeful. With a more favorable U.S. policy towards the Jewish State, we believed we could win this War and solidify our future in the region while keeping our enemies at bay.

We still have 101 hostages being held in Gaza, thousands of reservists fighting up in Lebanon, in Gaza and in Yehuda and Shomron, and thousands of displaced families who cannot return home because it is too dangerous. We see a possible ceasefire with Lebanon but as we know, ceasefires end when our enemies decide to start firing again. (As of this writing, the ceasefire with Lebanon was put into place a few days ago and today there was Hezbollah activity.)

Remember, on Oct. 6th there was a ceasefire in place.

We are fighting a seven-front war. Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas & Iran proxies in Yehuda and Shomron, Houthis in Yemen, Iran, the International diplomatic stage, and Cyber Warfare.

It is difficult and challenging. Oct. 7th was the loud event but the noise has not gone down. Every few days we see more lists of names: wounded and killed. Our boys. Our men. Our families. And yes, also our volunteer medics.

Our medics are under tremendous pressure. They are either on call 24/7 with us, ready to jump into action or they are serving in their army units, only to return home to be “on call” once again.

We are blessed to have support from you, our friends in North America. Thank you for standing with Israel!!

We see that our region is attracting more and more Jewish families. Simultaneously, our enemies are watching, waiting to pounce.

With the changing political climate and an anticipated favorable U.S administration, the Arabs living throughout Yehuda and Shomron are getting angry. We predict the terror against us will spike.

We must be ready.

Please help us. Help our medics continue their important lifesaving work in this most vunerable region. http://www.hatzalah.org.il.
