Many Seminole County subscribers received their Jan. 10 and Jan. 17 issues of the Heritage after Jan. 20. Several readers called Heritage to ask what had happened?
We don’t know why this only affected the Seminole County papers, but we do know that there were several holidays that delayed delivery of the paper: Christmas day, New Year’s day, former President Jimmy Carter’s death and Martin Luther King day.
We aren’t “passing the buck” but in our defense, for over 40 years, through hurricanes and power outages, the Heritage has gone to the printer on Wednesday — sometimes on Tuesday if there is a holiday. From there it is sent on Thursdays to the Post Office. From that point on, the delivery of the paper to our readers is in the hands of the Post Office. We have no control over it.
The owner of the paper, Laura Ossin, is considering different possibilities with the hope that the paper will arrive at your door on Fridays. But again, we have no control over how or when the Post Office delivers the paper to you.
Perhaps the best thing to do is to call the Post Office when you do not receive your paper on Fridays. Be consistent. If enough people “squeak the wheel” something might be done!
