Obituary - IONE GOODLESS ELKINS

Ione Goodless Elkins, 97, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at Harbor Chase assisted living facility in Orlando, after a long illness. She was a long-term resident of Hollywood, Florida since the mid-1950s.

Ione Goodless Elkins was born July 7, 1927, in Flushing, NYC, the daughter of Charles and Myrtice Miggues. She married Maxwell Goodless Jan. 20, 1956, who predeceased her in 1967; and Herbert Elkins April 20, 1968, who predeceased her in 2015.

Ione worked her way through nursing school and advanced to the position of head surgical nurse and nursing instructor. Her first husband was a surgeon and although they could only see each other’s eyes over their surgical masks, it was love at first sight and they married shortly thereafter.

She shared a passion for thoroughbred horses with her second husband, and they raced several horses under the colors purple and grey which were her favorites.

She will be remembered for loving kindness toward family and those she knew in life as well as her frankness and willingness to speak her mind to protect those she loved when required.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Dean Goodless MD, of Orlando, Florida; and three grandchildren, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren through marriage. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Goodless, her brother Charles Miggues, and her sister Geraldine Miggues, and both of her husbands.

Graveside Service for Mrs. Elkins was held at Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens (4900 Griffin Road, Davie, Florida) with Rabbi Loring Frank officiating. May she rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing.

Service entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida 407-599-1180.
